27102018 Budapest

I know it's been quite long since we last posted something.

There have been many times where I thought about writing, but I felt like nobody's gonna read them anyway. Which might still be true, but maybe we wanna look back on things and remind ourselves about them.

This year has been truly amazing, we've visited so many places, experienced so many great things and gone through some serious changes. We'll tell you all about it... some other time.

For now I wanna write about our latest adventure to Budapest. I'm not a travel guide, and this is not going to be a recommendation on what to do/ where to go/ what to eat.. 

Just a story about a road trip.

Let's skip back a couple of days prior. We finally decided on a date for our next road trip. It has become a tradition for us three, to take road trips somewhere, just for the fun of it. We started 1 year ago and haven't stopped since. You could say this was our anniversary trip.

Destination wise we all had some ideas so we wrote them on a post-it, folded it up and picked the winner out of a decorative plate: Budapest. The capital of Hungary.

We wanted to leave by 8:00am, which got unsurprisingly delayed, since some people got up at 7:58. Which was alright for some of us, some were waiting impatiently. The drive was 2 hours and 30 minutes, which isn't bad at all. (ref.:  some of our previous road trips took 4/5 hours one way)

We parked our car at a free Park & Ride at the train station and took the underground to Szene Gallery tee, to look at the huge thermal bath but also to desperately find a toilet. - Unsuccessfully. 

We crossed the Danube and walked around in the city, thankfully the rain stopped, not like it was predicted by every weather forecast ever. 

After a while of strolling around, Leo took us to his favorite café in Budapest where we had a strudel variation, coffee and hot chocolate. We kept on walking around the whole day, stopped at all vital sites, but the parliament building was surely the most impressive one. The view from the fishermens bastion was incredible and totally worth all the steps. (mostly)

I had to have some traditional gulash soup before we left, so we stopped at a street food stand in the middle of the center. 

The last hour of the trip was spent the "Auchan", this really huge Hungarian grocery store, which had everything you could possibly want and more. 

I love our random road trips so much and hope we'll never stop.
